Arbutin, also known as arbutin, appears as white needle-shaped crystals or powder. As a tyrosinase inhibitor, it can combine with the copper ions in tyrosinase first, causing the copper ions to lose their effect, thereby inhibiting the synthesis of dopachrome. Arbutin is extracted from the leaves of bearberry. It inhibits the activity of tyrosinase in the body and prevents the production of melanin, thereby reducing skin pigmentation and removing spots and freckles. It also has bactericidal and anti-inflammatory effects.
