Product Description

The birch tree is native to the northern hemisphere and grows up to 15-20 meters in height. It has slender branches, silver-white bark broken into scales and light green oval leaves. Both the leaves and the sap of the silver birch are mildly antiseptic and support the functions of the scalp.
Betulin is an abundant, naturally occurring triterpene. It is commonly isolated from thebark of birch trees and forms up to 30% of the dry weight of the extractive. It can be converted to betulinic acid (the alcohol group replaced by a carboxylic acid group), which is biologically more active than betulin itself.
