Aloe-emodin is an anthraquinone compound with the chemical formula C15H10O5, mainly derived from the dried roots and rhizomes of Polygonum palmatum, Tangut rhubarb, or medicinal rhubarb of the Polygonaceae family.
Rheum officinale is the antibacterial active ingredient of rhubarb, and the bacteria that are sensitive to it are staphylococcus, streptococcus and bacilli such as diphtheria, chytridiomycosis, anthrax, paratyphoid fever, and dysentery, among which it is most sensitive to staphylococcus and streptococcus.
