Asiaticoside is an organic compound with the molecular formula C48H78O19. The pure product is a white needle crystal, and the industrial product is a light yellow to light brown powder; odorless, bitter, and slightly hygroscopic. Easily soluble in water and ethanol, but insoluble in ether and chloroform. It is mainly extracted from the dried whole plant of Centella asiatica, an Umbelliferae plant. Promotes wound healing. Used to treat trauma, surgical wounds, burns, keloids and scleroderma.
