Thymol is colorless crystal or colorless crystalline powder at room temperature, with the smell of thyme or thyme. Slightly soluble in water, soluble in glacial acetic acid and paraffin oil, also soluble in ethanol, ether and olive oil. Irritating to skin, eyes and mucous membranes. Naturally present in the seeds of thyme, thyme, oregano, sweet green orchid, and umbelliferous plants of the family Lamiaceae.
