Product Description

Motherwort is an annual or biennial herb with a main root that is densely rooted with fibrous roots. Fresh spring seedlings to early summer pre-flowering cut; dry summer stems and leaves, flowers not yet bloomed or the first time to bloom cut, sun-dried, or cut into sections of sun-dried. Fresh motherwort: no stems in the seedling stage, basal leaves rounded-centred, margins 5-9 lobed, each lobe with 2-3 blunt teeth. Pre-flowering stems are square cylindrical, the upper part is much branched, concave down into longitudinal grooves on all sides, 30-60cm long, 0.2-0.5cm in diameter; the surface is greenish; the texture is fresh and tender, and there is a pith in the middle part of the cross-section. Leaves decussate opposite, petiolate; leaf blade green, fresh and tender, rubbed with juice; lower stem leaves palmately 3-lobed, upper leaves pinnately parted or lobed into 3 pieces, lobes entire or with a few serrations. Slightly bitter taste.
